Captivating Bridge (Tempest #3)

Captivating Bridge (Tempest #3)

Warren “War” Jinkins is that guy.

The bad one.

Tempest’s ex front man, an arrogant rock god.

The only thing larger than his ego is his capacity for self-destruction.

His bad attitude has cost him. His woman. His best friend. His band. Everything.

Shaina Bentley is that girl.

The good one.

Hollywood’s pink candy-coated sweetheart.

The star of Pinky Swear, television’s top rated teen show.

She’s been practically perfect since that horrible day. But she’s starting to crack under the strain of being everything to everyone.

He’s a one man island. She’s a fragile captive soul.

Is love a current too dangerous to cross or will it be the bridge that brings them together?

*Author note: Each book in the Tempest series is a full and complete novel featuring a different band member.*

    Truely Amazing!!, May 22, 2014

    5 Fist Bumps

War broke my heart in Book 1 but knocked me to my knees in Captivating Bridge. A complex guardian angel, War finds his match in actress Shaina. She brings out the best in him, whether he likes it or not! She forces him to face his demons, not realizing by doing so her demons will come to life.

    I laughed. I cried

    But most importantly I connected with the story. As a person diagnosed with depression and PTSD I can vouch that Michelle portrayed “our” lives with raw dignity. I love her more and more the more I read. She writes with pure honesty no matter how ugly the situations are;
For that I give her, War, and Shaina a standing round of applause and demand an encore!

This series keeps getting better and better…, May 30, 2014

This review is from: Captivating Bridge (Tempest #3) (Kindle Edition)
War made big mistakes in his life, mistakes he regrets and is shameful of. He hides behind a bad attitude but the truth is, he’s just trying to protect himself from more hurt. He left his drug usage behind and now he’s just struggling to survive, trying to get over the death of a mother who was never very “motherly” towards him, trying to get over the betrayal of his best friend and the girl he used to love, and trying to get out of a contract he’s not happy with.Yes, he was portrayed under a very negative light in the previous books but in this one we see a much tender and ‘human’ side of War.

Shaina is the tween queen, on the outside she’s a happy go lucky girl, on the inside she’s trying to get over the death of her sister and the distance that her parents have put between them. She wants to leave the world she leaves in behind and start living the life she’s suppose to.

Can these torture souls help each other and conquer their demons or will they crash and burn?

This series keeps getting better and better. This third book touches a few subjects that are very delicate (drugs, suicide, depression) and I think Michelle did an excellent job portraying them in a very caring and touching way. The interactions between War and Shaina are sweet and full of raw emotion. I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to lost a sibling the way she did, it takes a very strong person to survive a situation like that and the way Shaina does it with help from War is just beautiful.

Same goes to the interactions between War and Bryan, real brotherhood at its best.

I would highly recommend this series and this book, while you can read this as a standalone book I would recommend that your read the first two book to get the whole back story.

    Great job Michelle!!!

Talk Supe Reviews: Lyrical But Painful, June 22, 2014
This review is from: Captivating Bridge (Tempest #3) (Kindle Edition)
Oh the angst! This is why I very rarely and am very picky with my new adult reads because of the frickin’ angst. Waaah! CAPTIVATING BRIDGE has hair-pulling, gut wrenching, jaw gritting, ANGST! Why?! Because when two broken and bent people decide to fall in love with each other, the healing process is unlike anything you’ve ever come across with! I assume it’s as painful and itchy as a werewolf shifting or a vampire knitting his skin together or something supernatural like that. It’s difficult to watch!

War is messed up because his mom is a druggie and his dad didn’t want him. Shaina is messed up because her older sister committed suicide and both her parents are controlling. Shaina taught War how to love in the real sense of the word and War gave Shayne freedom to be herself, to pursue her passion and to just let go and soar. It’s quite beautiful actually but their HEA was paved with tears, passive-aggressive rejections, misbehavior, celebrity meltdowns and lots of great sex. What’s NA without angsty sex?!

Anyway, CAPTIVATING BRIDGE is one captivating read. Michelle Mankin never fails to impress me with her almost lyrical writing style, she brings out the big guns on those momentous scenes to drive the emotions to your heart, bullseye, and all you can do is clutch your chest or cover your mouth to prevent yourself from exclaiming out loud. But despite the angst, she more than makes up for it by giving us heartwarming HEA’s. Not only did War and Shayne find true love with each other, War also managed to reconcile with Tempest and more importantly, mend the bridge between him and Lace. I got teary eyed when War finally had the “talk” with both Bryan and Lace, it was so sincere I think if it played out in front of me, I would be bawling like a crazy fangirl.

Obviously I’m excited for the next one, I wonder if Tempest 4 is Dizzy’s or someone else’s. But I have this gnawing question which is reinforced by the article below, now that War is friendly with the band again, what’s going to happen to Justin, the current frontman of Tempest and hero of Enticing Interlude?
